Basically, there are two units which work together in any ductless mini spit system. The first is the external unit which is responsible for the compressing and cooling of the air. It works as a compressor and transports the cool air via refrigerant lines which are connected with the various internal units. Usually, these external units are installed outside the house as they are quite noisy and bulky. The second unit is the one which is used internally for circulating the air inside the house. You can have more than one internal unit and they can be placed all over the house to give a central cooling effect. Further, they can be used whenever required and it is not necessary to switch on all the units if you just wish to cool a particular room. The internal units provide the air flow and they are usually distributed all over the house for completing the centrally cooled aspect.
